Portland Public Schools and the Portland Interscholastic League are excited to announce that we will begin serving students in the Portland area as part of OSAA Season 1. Programming will follow all OSAA, OHA, and PPS guidelines to ensure a safe environment for all students and coaches. This is a voluntary opportunity, and in accordance with the OSAA, teams will not be formed based on a student’s participation during the OSAA Season 1. In an effort to best support students and programming, our first phase of activities will only be held outdoors. Each site will be managed by PPS staff, which includes: Athletic Directors, Coaches, and Security Services.
Physical activity has been shown to have a strong and positive influence on social and emotional wellbeing of students. Participation in regular physical activity can increase self-esteem and reduce stress and anxiety. Physical activity can help play a role in preventing mental health problems and improve the quality of life of those experiencing them.
Interested high school students must complete the PIL student clearance process, which includes: registration through FamilyID, and have a valid physical on file with the school.
